Two individuals were arrested for buying, selling, and transporting drugs and opium poppies.
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 8th, the Traffic Police Team of Ky Son District Police discovered and apprehended an individual for illegally buying and selling narcotics. Previously, an individual transporting opium poppy plants, including flowers and fruits, from Laos to Vietnam for sale was also arrested by Ky Son District Police.
Accordingly, at 11:30 AM, a traffic police patrol team from Ky Son District Police was conducting patrol and control duties on National Highway 7A, in the area of Khe Tang village, Chieu Luu commune, when they discovered Le Van Dan, born in 1964, residing in Khe Tang village, Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district, engaging in the buying and selling of narcotics with a group of drug addicts right next to National Highway 7.

The task force immediately proceeded to apprehend and search the suspect. During the search, the task force seized 56 small white packets and 2 small white lumps weighing 2.9g from Dần's person, suspected to be heroin.
The task force drew up a report, confiscated the evidence, and brought the suspect, Dan, to the Ky Son District Police headquarters for questioning.
At the police investigation agency, Le Van Dan confessed that all the seized items were drugs, which he had bought to sell to drug addicts in the village for profit.
It is known that Le Van Dan was released from prison in 2016. Prior to that, he was arrested for the crime of "illegally trading in narcotics".
Earlier, at 10:10 AM on January 7th, a patrol team from the Ky Son District Police's Mobile Traffic Control Unit, while conducting administrative checks on National Highway 7A, discovered a passenger car with license plate 37A - 357-16, driven by Cao Ngoc Trong, born in 1967, residing in Lang Nhung village, Tam Quang commune, Tuong Duong district.

Upon inspection, the task force discovered a cardboard box containing 16 kg of opium plants and pods; they seized the evidence and brought the suspect and the officer to the headquarters for questioning.
The opium poppy plants transported by Cao Ngoc Trong weighed 2 kg. Trong confessed that he bought all the plants and poppy pods from Laos for 410,000 Vietnamese dong to resell.According to current law, the illegal possession, sale, or transportation of "dried or fresh opium poppy pods" or other narcotic substances listed in the category of "narcotic substances and precursors" is a violation of the law and is subject to criminal prosecution.
