Top 5 major gambling cases in Nghe An in 2017
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 15th, the Nghe An Provincial Police successfully carried out Project 1401B, dismantling a large-scale gambling ring, detaining 74 suspects and seizing over 500 million VND in cash. Prior to this, in 2017, several large-scale gambling cases occurred in Nghe An province.

On October 15, 2017, the Anh Son District Police caught Nguyen Van Trong (born 1974, residing in Hamlet 4, Phuc Son, Anh Son District) red-handed while gambling through lottery betting. Further investigation led to the arrest of Nguyen Anh Tho (born 1981, residing in Block 6B, Anh Son Town), the ringleader, and several major gamblers and agents. A total of 11 people were arrested. During searches of the suspects' residences, police seized numerous related documents.

(Baonghean.vn) - Mobile police surrounded the gang, and the suspects fiercely resisted in an attempt to escape, but the officers managed to apprehend 74 suspects and seize over 500 million VND in cash.
Initially, investigators determined that the amount of money involved in illegal lottery betting on the day the case was busted was over 300 million VND. Over a two-week period, it is estimated that the suspects used nearly 5 billion VND for illegal lottery betting.
2. Police bust 30 billion VND gambling ring involving 'ladies' in Vinh.

On October 18, 2017, the Vinh City Police initiated legal proceedings against Phan Thi Thanh Giang (29 years old), Tran Thi Huong (42 years old), Hoang Thi Ngan (29 years old), all residing in Vinh City, and Nguyen Thi Phuong (65 years old), residing in Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province, to investigate their involvement in gambling.
Also involved in the case are Tran Thi Dung (57 years old, residing in Vinh City) and Tran Dinh Huong (43 years old, residing in Hung Nguyen district), who are being investigated for the same offense.
According to records, starting in June 2017, Vinh City Police discovered a large-scale gambling ring operating through lottery betting. The group's modus operandi involved using smartphones to receive and transmit information from "sub-agents" to the ringleaders. After recovering data from the suspects' phones, Vinh City Police had sufficient grounds to determine that from the end of May 2017 until the time of dismantling, the ring had transacted over 30 billion VND in gambling money.

At approximately 6 PM on December 25, 2017, the Do Luong District Police conducted an arrest and urgent search of the house of Hoang Van Tu (born in 1985, residing in Hamlet 3, Thai Son Commune, Do Luong District), an individual involved in gambling in the form of lottery betting with Vo Thi Van. The seized items included 48,450,000 VND, 6 mobile phones, 12 lottery betting slips, and 10 lottery betting notebooks.
On December 26th, police forces continued to arrest and conduct urgent searches of Dao Cong Son (born 1972, residing in Hamlet 2, Tan Son Commune); Dao Xuat Thai (born 1979, residing in Hamlet 8, Tan Son Commune); Thai Khac Nam (born 1968, residing in Hamlet 2, Thinh Son Commune); Nguyen Thi Thu (born 1987, residing in Hamlet 2, Dong Son Commune); and Nguyen Thi Lien (born 1958, residing in Block 3, Do Luong Town) for gambling in the form of lottery betting.
The police also summoned Nguyen Thi Huong (born in 1979, residing in Yen Huong, Yen Son) and Dau Van Hoi (born in 1959, residing in Hamlet 7, Dong Son commune) for questioning regarding their gambling activities. The total evidence seized in the case included 185 million VND and 9 mobile phones.
4. Thirteen individuals arrested for gambling, over 82 million VND seized in Tan Ky.

On May 25, 2017, the Special Investigation Team (Tan Ky District Police) conducted an operation and caught 13 individuals red-handed gambling at the house of Tran Van Tuan (Bich Thai hamlet, Nghia Thai commune), including: Duong Minh Binh (born in 1968) and Dang Minh Cuong (born in 1968), residing in Thai Hoa town; Nguyen Xuan Vuong (born in 1967), residing in Nghia Dan district; and 10 other individuals including: Nguyen Van Tan (born 1969), Vu Van Tan (born 1973), Hoang Van Nam (born 1979), Cao Dinh Xo (born 1962), Nguyen Van Nhu (born 1986), Nguyen Duc Trung (born 1984), Tran Van Chin (born 1978), Tran Van Tuan (born 1960), Nguyen Dinh Thong (born 1976), Tran Van Huong (born 1965), all residing in Nghia Thai commune, Tan Ky district.
The seized items included: 82.7 million VND in cash, one set of dishes, four dice, and other related evidence. Currently, the district police are conducting an investigation to clarify the case and prepare a file for processing the suspects according to the law.
5. Authorities busted a major football betting ring worth 900 billion VND.

On the morning of March 29, 2017, hundreds of officers and soldiers from C50 and PC46, along with other functional units, raided and conducted an emergency search of the private residences of three individuals: Tran The Hung (born in 1979), residing in Quang Trung ward; Le Hong Trung (born in 1987, residing in Ben Thuy ward); and Ngo Minh An (born in 1970, residing in Trung Do ward) (all in Vinh City), for the crime of gambling through online football betting.
During the search, police seized two laptops and five mobile phones containing a large amount of data related to the online football betting operation led by Tran The Hung. The total amount of bets was 22,894,360 points (each point equivalent to 40,000 VND), equivalent to 900 billion VND, with a total of 38,449 betting transactions.
This main agent account has 6 sub-agents and a total of 45 high-stakes gamblers in Vinh City who regularly participate in gambling through this main agent system. The gambler's account with the largest amount gambled had 6,299,311 points (approximately 250 billion VND), while the account with the biggest losses had 171,616 points (approximately 7 billion VND).
