260 heroin cakes burned

Authorities have just burned 260 heroin cakes, weighing a total of 70kg, in a large-scale drug trafficking case.

On January 17, the Civil Judgment Enforcement Department of Quang Ninh province coordinated with relevant agencies to destroy 260 heroin cakes weighing 70kg, which were evidence in the case of Suliyavong Sakhone (Lao nationality) and his accomplices for illegally transporting drugs.

The 260 heroin cakes in the case were still sealed and were destroyed by complete burning.

Previously, on August 3, 2016, on National Highway 18 through Deo But Pass, Quang Hanh Ward (Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh), the police discovered and caught Suliyavong Sakhone and his accomplices (one Laotian, three Vietnamese) using a car with a Lao license plate to illegally transport 200 heroin cakes from Laos to Vietnam for sale in China.

The drugs were hidden in a compartment under the floor of the car. Police also seized a gun and 100 bullets.

During the investigation, the Investigation Agency continued to seize 60 more heroin cakes and clarified and prosecuted two more defendants. The case was brought to trial, all five defendants were sentenced to death.
