Google bans all cryptocurrency advertisements.
All advertisements for unregulated or speculative financial products such as cryptocurrencies and gambling will not appear in the advertising sections of this site.
Starting in June, advertisements for cryptocurrencies and related content will be banned on Google, the giant search engine and one of the world's largest online advertising revenue generators.
A March 14th announcement from Google stated that all ads for unregulated or speculative financial products such as cryptocurrencies and gambling will not appear in the site's ad sections.
Earlier, at the end of January, Facebook also announced it would ban ads related to cryptocurrency, arguing that such content is often misleading or fraudulent.
In 2017, cryptocurrencies, most notably Bitcoin, experienced a dramatic price increase, triggering a global cryptocurrency craze that led regulators to begin tightening regulations related to digital currencies.
Many countries, such as China, South Korea, and India, have banned cryptocurrency transactions. Officials in the European Union (EU) have also called for stricter controls on digital currencies.
