From June, advertisements for cryptocurrencies and related content will be banned on Google, the search giant and one of the world's largest online advertising revenue generators.

Google announced on March 14 that all ads for unregulated or speculative financial products such as cryptocurrencies and betting will not appear on the site's advertising sections.

Previously, at the end of January, Facebook also announced that it would ban advertisements related to cryptocurrencies because it believed that this content was often confusing or fraudulent.

In 2017, cryptocurrencies, notably Bitcoin, skyrocketed in price, leading to a virtual currency fever spreading globally, causing regulators to begin tightening operations related to digital currencies.

Many countries such as China, South Korea, and India have banned virtual currency transactions. European Union (EU) officials have also called for tighter control of digital currencies.
