Singapore is one of the most civilized countries in the world. Visitors to Singapore can be fined or even imprisoned for just a little "carelessness" or not understanding the strict regulations here.

Please note some of the strict regulations below in Singapore to avoid getting fined or imprisoned when traveling in this country.

Street performance without a license

Traveling artists and performers often like to bus along the streets to “make a living”. However, remember that performing on the streets in Singapore without a permit from the National Arts Council can result in a fine of up to $20,000 if you are caught. Performances are strictly regulated in this country, with permits having to be renewed annually and can only be performed in specific locations.

Obscene acts

Singapore's laws state that obscenity is illegal in the country. Speaking, singing or acting in a way that is deemed obscene can result in a fine or up to three months in prison.

Transporting durian in public transport

Because of its distinctive scent, durians are not allowed to be transported on public transport in Singapore. Otherwise, you will be fined $500.

To maintain its image as a clean and green city, Singapore has imposed heavy fines ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 for anyone found littering. Another punishment is that you may have to do community service to make up for your bad behavior.

Feed the pigeons

Singapore has also banned tourists from feeding pigeons since 1973 due to fears of spreading disease. Those caught violating this rule face fines of up to $500.
