The shipment of "affordable" Honda motorcycles has arrived at dealerships.
The first Honda cars in a batch of over 2,000 vehicles, imported nearly a month ago and benefiting from preferential tax policies since 2018, have been delivered to dealerships and are being prepared for delivery to customers in Vietnam.
In early March 2018, more than 2,000 Honda vehicles, including CR-V, Civic, Jazz, and Accord models, arrived in Vietnam. These were the first batch of cars imported from Thailand, benefiting from preferential import tax rates starting in 2018.
When Honda Vietnam's shipment of over 2,000 vehicles arrived in the country, many predicted that it would take the company nearly two months to complete the procedures under Decree 116 in order to clear customs and deliver the vehicles to consumers.

However, on March 20th, the Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch in Ho Chi Minh City announced that it had processed customs clearance for 1,054 Honda cars, part of a shipment of over 2,000 vehicles recently imported from Thailand under the import tax exemption scheme. These vehicles had already received Certificates of Technical Safety and Environmental Protection from the vehicle registration authority and were cleared through customs.
On March 25th, the first vehicles in this batch were delivered to Honda dealerships in the South, in preparation for handover to customers who had pre-ordered. According to available information, only the CR-V and Jazz models have been delivered to dealerships so far; the Civic and Accord will be delivered later.
According to a Honda dealership manager in Ho Chi Minh City, approximately 30 CR-V and Jazz vehicles have been delivered to the dealership. The 2018 CR-V models are ready for registration and delivery to customers who pre-ordered them in the last week of March 2018. The Honda Jazz will not be delivered until mid-April 2018 due to waiting for the vehicle registration tax schedule.
Thus, the batch of Honda cars benefiting from preferential tax policies since 2018 reached consumers in Vietnam nearly a month faster than initially expected. This is seen as good news, alleviating the "shortage" of imported cars in Vietnam over the past three months.

According to the official prices announced by Honda Vietnam on March 5th, after benefiting from the 0% ASEAN import tax, the price of the 2018 Honda CR-V has been reduced by up to nearly 200 million VND. Specifically, the CR-V E version is now priced at only 958 million VND (previously 1.136 billion VND). The CR-V G version is 998 million VND (previously 1.176 billion VND) and the CR-V L version is 1.068 billion VND (pre-tax price was 1.256 billion VND). The Honda Civic 1.5L Turbo version will be priced at 898 million VND, unchanged from before.
Honda Vietnam also added the Civic 1.8E version with a price of approximately 758 million VND. The Honda Jazz small hatchback will be imported from Thailand and sold in three versions: V, VX, and RS. The prices are approximately 539, 589, and 619 million VND respectively. The price of the Honda Accord D-segment sedan remains largely unchanged at 1.198 billion VND.
