(Baonghean.vn) - During this year's April 30th and May 1st holiday, the number of passengers passing through Vinh International Airport increased significantly compared to the same period last year.

According to Vinh International Airport, during the holiday period, there were an average of 34 takeoffs and landings per day. While the number of flights did not increase, all flights were fully booked, reaching 100% passenger capacity, a 7% increase compared to normal days and a 13% increase compared to last year's holiday period. The peak period is expected to be from April 30th to May 1st, 2018, with nearly 11,000 passengers.

The increase in flights is mainly concentrated on domestic routes such as Vinh - Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh - Hanoi, Vinh - Da Lat, Vinh - Nha Trang, Vinh - Buon Ma Thuot, Vinh - Da Nang… and vice versa. Of these, the Vinh - Saigon route and vice versa is the most frequent and busiest.

Mr. Phan Dang Bao Quang, Chief of the Office of Vinh International Airport, said: To improve service quality and prevent traffic congestion and overload, Vinh Airport is implementing a series of solutions to arrange, organize, and streamline traffic flow to facilitate passengers arriving and departing within the airport area; and strengthening inspection and supervision of the runway, taxiway, and aircraft parking areas.

In addition, proactively coordinate with units operating at the airport to develop a plan to guide customers through the check-in process in order to best serve the travel needs of the people.

In the first four months of this year, the number of passengers passing through the airport increased slightly compared to 2017 (653,401 passengers), but the number of flights decreased. While there were 2,279 takeoffs and landings in the first four months of 2017, there were 2,163 flights in 2018, a decrease of 5%.
