This action by Facebook is in the first phase of the review process of applications that can exploit user data information. This is the next move of Facebook after the data leak scandal related to consulting firm Cambridge Analytica.
According to Facebook, 200 applications have been suspended while Facebook conducts a thorough investigation to see if the social networking site's user information has been misused.
Facebook began investigating thousands of apps running on its platform on March 21, after CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted Facebook had made mistakes in protecting the information of 50 million users and pledged to take tougher measures to restrict programmers' access to this information.
