This action by Facebook is the first phase of a review of applications that may exploit user data information. This is the next move by Facebook after the data leakage scandal related to the consulting firm Cambridge Analytica.

According to Facebook, 200 applications have been suspended while Facebook conducts a thorough investigation to see if the social network's user information was misused.

Facebook began investigating thousands of apps running on its platform on March 21, after CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted that Facebook had made mistakes in protecting the information of 50 million users and pledged to take tougher measures to restrict developers' access to this information.
