When the barge was about to be towed to shore, it encountered shallow water, could not be controlled and capsized, leaving everyone unable to react.

As of 9:30 a.m. on May 18, the rescue force of the Fire Police of Binh Duong Province, in coordination with other forces, was still actively diving to search for 3 people still missing in the incident of a sand barge capsized on the Dong Nai River, passing through Thanh Phuoc Ward, Tan Uyen Town, Binh Duong.

Previously, at around 3 a.m. the same day, a barge controlled by captain Pham Van Hung (50 years old, from Long An) was carrying hundreds of tons of sand on the Dong Nai River.

At this time, on the barge were also Pham Thi Ngoc Dung (41 years old, Mr. Hung's wife) with her children Pham Chi Cuong (19 years old), Pham Van Quoc Bao (10 years old) and Ms. Dung's mother.

When the barge reached Thanh Phuoc ward, Tan Uyen town, it suddenly capsized, causing the members on board to fall into the river.

At that time, Mr. Hung and Cuong knew how to swim, so luckily people helped them to shore and took them to the hospital for emergency treatment. The remaining 3 people including his wife, youngest son and mother-in-law were missing.

The initial cause was determined to be that when the barge was about to be towed to shore, it encountered shallow water, could not be controlled and capsized, leaving everyone unable to react.

Currently, dozens of officers, soldiers and many forces are still diving to search for the 3 missing people.
