More than 70 thousand pages of Han Nom documents have been digitized.
(Baonghean.vn) - On June 8, in Vinh City, the Provincial Relic Management Board held a conference to summarize the program of digitizing Han Nom documents of Nghe An province, phase 1 (2015-2018).
Attending the conference were comrades: Pham Dinh Phong - Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Tran Thi My Hanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of the Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library; Department PA 83 of the Provincial Police; Department of Culture - Information, Center for Culture - Information and management teams of some typical relics in the province.

In order to preserve and promote the value of Han Nom documents in Nghe An, since 2015, the Provincial Monument Management Board has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library to implement a digitization program. The digitization process is carried out through the following steps: Survey and registration; photocopying; digitizing; post-digitization storage.
As a result, phase 1 (2015-2018) digitized Han Nom documents in 231 communes, wards, towns and 473 clans, temples, pagodas, shrines in 16 districts, cities, and towns in the area with a total of 70,473 pages. This shows that Nghe An is a locality that preserves a large and rich source of Han Nom documents in many fields.

In their discussions, delegates all focused on affirming the practical benefits of the Han Nom document digitization program for the preservation of national cultural identity. At the same time, they pointed out the advantages and difficulties in the implementation of the program and recommended continuing to implement phase 2, moving towards developing a plan for preservation, repair, restoration and widespread dissemination so that valuable documents are not only preserved but also promoted in today's life...
