A horrific accident occurred on the highway between a container truck and a passenger bus, causing both vehicles to burst into flames and killing at least two people.
According to initial information, the accident occurred at 4:20 AM on July 21st on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, at kilometer 12+850 in the direction from Long Thanh to Ho Chi Minh City, between a 16-seater passenger bus with license plate 51B-24103 and a container truck with license plate 15C-08813.
The accident caused both vehicles to burst into flames. The 16-seater passenger van was completely destroyed, and the container on the tractor-trailer was also burned.
According to initial reports, at least two people have died.
The image of two cars engulfed in flames on the highway was captured by a local resident.
The Vietnam Expressway Services Joint Stock Company (VEC E) stated that after receiving information about the incident, the company coordinated with the fire department of District 2 (Ho Chi Minh City), the fire department of Long Thanh District (Dong Nai Province), the traffic police, and the police of Long Thanh District to handle the incident.
Currently, to address the issue, investigate the cause of the incident, and clear the scene, branch A of National Highway 51 heading from Long Thanh to Ho Chi Minh City is temporarily closed, preventing vehicles from entering the expressway.
According to VEC E, traffic is expected to return to normal around 10 a.m. today.
