There are many ways to check the quality of foods to avoid buying unsafe or contaminated foods that you may not know about.

According toBrightside, with the naked eye we can also choose some of the following foods thanks to some tips below:

1. Chicken

When buying chicken, you need to pay attention to the white stripes and thick layer of fat on the chicken breast. If these signs appear, it means that the chicken has a lot of growth hormones and has gained weight too quickly. This meat is not good for your health.

Color is also very important to note, if the meat is yellow then it is not fresh. Raw chicken breast should be pink and not too soft.

2. Cheese

To find out if the cheese you are buying contains flour, simply add a drop of iodine to it. If flour is present, the affected area will be dark blue, if no flour is present, it will be yellow or brown.

You can also leave the cheese at room temperature. If it contains vegetable fat, it will turn yellow, while fresh cheese may taste sour but will not change color.

3. Honey

Pour a little honey onto a surface. Fake honey will drip and spread out immediately on the surface. Real honey will form a small stream.

If you taste caramel, your honey has been heated. If you can taste the sweetness and find it too sweet, it means the honey contains sugar.

4. Sour cream

Sour cream is a product of milk fermentation, lactic acid makes the milk thicken and sour.

To test if sour cream is real, simply stir a spoonful of cream into a cup of hot water. A poor quality product will produce white flakes that look like precipitate. Real sour cream will become a thick, uniform liquid.

5. Frozen vegetables and fruits

Check if a frozen product package has snow or ice in it, it means it has not been stored or preserved properly.

6. Fish

Fresh fish have bright eyes and bright red gills. Their skin is shiny like metal and their scales are still firmly attached and not peeling. Conversely, spoiled fish have cloudy eyes, dark gills, pale skin and peeling scales.

7. Meat

When choosing meat, press your finger on the meat. Fresh meat should be elastic and give off fingerprints immediately.

Also, you should cut a large piece and observe: If the meat is dark inside but has a white border, it means that its shelf life has been extended due to preservatives or additives. Or you can also check by blotting the meat with a paper towel. Fresh meat does not leave too much moisture and blood on the towel.

8. Ice cream

If you are in doubt about the safety of an ice cream bar. When you buy it, try a bar at room temperature. If it contains vegetable fat, it will take longer to freeze and eventually melt into a liquid. Ice cream with good quality ingredients will melt into a thick white cream.
