(Baonghean.vn) - The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) cited a diplomatic source as saying that during a recent visit by a US State Department official to South Korea, Washington proposed that North Korea transport 50% of Pyongyang's nuclear warheads to the UK.

SIPRI estimates that North Korea currently possesses up to 20 nuclear warheads. It is known that the US government has proposed that Pyongyang receive assistance from the UK in the process of dismantling nuclear warheads.

Britain remains a nuclear power, but its nuclear arsenal has been halved since the late 1970s during the height of the Cold War.

Therefore, Britain is considered a country with experience in destroying nuclear weapons.

The proposal was made after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, during a meeting with his British counterpart Boris Johnson in June, asked London to provide technical support to North Korea in this field./.
