Tran Xuan Hiep missed the chance to compete for a medal when he had an accident while warming up for the final round of the men's changquan event.

On the morning of August 19, Tran Xuan Hiep opened the wushu competition for Vietnam at the 2018 Asian Games in the men's scholastic final. However, during the warm-up, he suffered an ankle injury while performing a difficult move. After examination, the doctor assessed that Xuan Hiep's injury was quite serious and he could not compete.

Tran Xuan Hiep was sad because he got injured during the warm-up, morning of August 19.

Tran Xuan Hiep is considered the first hope for a medal for Vietnam in today's competition. At the 28th SEA Games, he won a gold medal in the sword fighting category and a bronze medal in the long punching category.

With Xuan Hiep reluctantly having to withdraw, the hope of a medal in wushu is placed on Duong Thuy Vi. In the early afternoon, Thuy Vi will compete in the final of the swordplay event.

In the afternoon, the focus of the Vietnamese delegation is on football. In the men's football event, the Vietnamese Olympic team will play against Japan to decide the top spot in Group D. Meanwhile, the women's team will start their campaign with a match against Thailand.
