On September 23, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov affirmed that the ministry has more convincing evidence to support the documents released earlier that day at a press conference about the Il-20 military plane being shot down in Syria.

"The Russian Defense Ministry also has other convincing data on the September 17 disaster, which substantiates the documents published at this press conference," Konashenkov said.

In addition, Mr. Konashenkov also said that the Russian side also used documents provided by Israel in the press conference. He said: "The updated details of the Il-20 disaster and the actions of the Israeli Air Force on September 17, announced at this press conference, are based on data on airspace control from various radars in Syria."

Earlier the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry held a press conference to announce details related to the Il-20 reconnaissance aircraft shot down by the Syrian air defense system over the Mediterranean Sea on the night of September 17, killing 15 Russian soldiers.
