Cau Giat Town (Quynh Luu) is recognized as a type V urban area.

Cau Giat town has a total natural area of ​​289.36 hectares; National Highway 1A, National Highway 48B, and the North-South railway passing through, very convenient for economic and social development.

On May 12, 2010, the Government issued Resolution No. 24/NQ-CP on adjusting and expanding the administrative boundaries of the town. Cau Giat town merged 4 hamlets of Quynh My commune to establish new blocks 9, 10, 11, 12. After 80 years of formation and development of the town, from 3 hamlets with more than 100 households, more than 1,000 people, there are now 12 blocks with more than 11,000 people.

The town's economy has always maintained a fairly high growth rate; in the period 2010 - 2015, the average growth rate reached 12%. Evaluating the mid-term results, the 20th Town Party Congress, from 2015 - 2017, the average economic growth rate reached 13.83%; the economic structure shifted in a positive direction, small-scale industry - construction: 20.84%; services: 78.04; agriculture decreased to only 1.12%.

Average income reached 55.82 million VND/person/year; poverty rate decreased from 2.3% in 2015 to 1.2% in 2017.

Infrastructure has been invested in and built on a larger scale, many projects have been invested in and built in the area such as the project to expand and upgrade National Highway 1A, National Highway 48B, the National Highway 1A lighting system... The new urban appearance has clearly taken shape.

On October 1, 2018, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 4373 recognizing Cau Giat town, Quynh Luu district as a type V urban area.
