On the occasion of Christmas 2018, on December 15th, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, Truong Thi Mai, visited and extended her best wishes to Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu and other dignitaries and clergy of the Bui Chu Diocese (Xuan Ngoc commune, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province).

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and the Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, Truong Thi Mai, extended Christmas greetings to Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu, along with the priests, dignitaries, monks, and parishioners of Nam Dinh province, wishing them a peaceful and happy Christmas season.

The Head of the Central Committee's Department of Mass Mobilization acknowledged the contributions of the Bishop, dignitaries, clergy, and parishioners of the Bui Chu Diocese to the socio-economic development of the locality and the country, contributing to strengthening national unity.

Head of the Central Committee's Department of Mass Mobilization, Truong Thi Mai, affirmed: The Party and State have always consistently affirmed the importance of respecting and guaranteeing the freedom of belief and religion for all people; meeting the legitimate needs of religious organizations and followers; and encouraging and creating conditions for people to develop their economy and improve their living standards.

In the joy of Christmas, the Head of the Central Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, Truong Thi Mai, expressed her hope that in the coming time, priests, religious leaders, monks, and parishioners will become increasingly united in implementing the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, the Pope's teachings, and the direction of the Vietnam Bishops' Conference "Living the Gospel in the heart of the nation to serve the happiness of our compatriots," joining hands and contributing with the people of the whole country to build and protect the Fatherland.

Parishes and congregations in the area maintain and expand the models of "Parish/Congregation participating in environmental resource protection," "Peaceful parish/congregation," and "Exemplary Catholic family."

Religious followers actively participate in social and charitable activities, contributing to building a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland and country.

Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu expressed his gratitude for the attention of the Party and State leaders, as well as the local Party committees and authorities, who visited and extended Christmas greetings in 2018. Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu stated that the diocese has 413,000 parishioners.

Over the past period, the Diocese has always strived, together with local Party committees and authorities, to help people develop their economy and improve their living standards.

In many localities throughout the province, Catholic parishioners have voluntarily donated land for the construction of rural roads and social welfare facilities; contributed their efforts to building a green, clean, and beautiful environment; and maintained security and order in the area.

Nam Dinh province has two dioceses: Bui Chu Diocese and Nam Dinh Deanery (belonging to Hanoi Diocese), with over 720 parishes and sub-parishes, and approximately 470,000 parishioners.

Catholic parishioners in the province have supported each other in economic development, actively working together to build new rural areas and develop cultural life in residential areas.
