On the occasion of Christmas 2018, on December 15, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Truong Thi Mai visited and congratulated Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu and dignitaries and monks of the Diocese of Bui Chu (Xuan Ngoc commune, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province).

On behalf of the leaders of the Party, State, and Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai sent Christmas greetings to Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu, priests, dignitaries, monks and nuns and parishioners of Nam Dinh province to have a peaceful and happy Christmas.

The Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization acknowledged the contributions of the Bishop, dignitaries, monks, and parishioners of Bui Chu Diocese in the construction and socio-economic development of the locality and the country, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc.

Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai affirmed: The Party and State always identify and consistently respect and ensure the freedom of belief and religion of all people; meet the legal and legitimate needs of religious organizations and religious people; encourage and create conditions for people to develop the economy and improve their lives.

In the joy of Christmas, Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization Truong Thi Mai hopes that in the coming time, priests, dignitaries, monks, nuns, and parishioners will increasingly unite and implement well the policies of the Party and State, the Pope's teachings, and the direction of the Vietnam Bishops' Council "Living the Gospel in the heart of the nation to serve the happiness of compatriots," joining hands and contributing with the people of the whole country to build and protect the Fatherland.

Parishes and churches in the area maintain and replicate the models of "Parishes and churches participating in protecting environmental resources," "Peaceful parishes and churches," and "Exemplary Catholic families."

Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu thanked the leaders of the Party, State, local Party committees and authorities for their attention and Christmas greetings in 2018. Bishop Vu Dinh Hieu said the Diocese has 413,000 parishioners.

Over the past time, the Diocese has always made efforts with local authorities to help people develop the economy and improve their lives.

In many localities in the province, parishioners have voluntarily donated land to build rural roads and social welfare projects; contributed to building a green, clean, and beautiful environment; and maintained security and order in the area.

Nam Dinh province has two dioceses including Bui Chu diocese and Nam Dinh deanery (belonging to Hanoi diocese) with over 720 parishes and chapels, about 470,000 parishioners.

Catholics in the province have supported each other in economic development, actively joined hands in building new rural areas and building cultural life in residential areas./.
