At the conference, representatives of localities and aquaculture farmers expressed many opinions and concerns about the consumption market, especially traditional freshwater fish; polluted water environment in shrimp farming areas...
Specialty fish varieties are not abundant and not yet abundant. Fishing by electric shock and explosives is still common, affecting aquatic resources, especially in large dams.
Therefore, localities and aquaculture farmers want the province to call on businesses to participate in the production of specialty fish varieties; request the province to provide subsidies and freight subsidies for people in mountainous areas who are strongly developing the advantages of cage fish farming on hydroelectric reservoirs.
Mr. Tran Huu Tien - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: Although the aquatic product output has been achieved, the farming objects have not had a breakthrough, they are still mainly traditional fish, there are not many specialty products. For brackish water shrimp farming, farmers have not applied much new technology. It is recommended that related sectors and seed production units in the province be more active in researching and producing many specialty fish varieties, providing more successful farming for farmers.Mr. Tran Huu Tien requested the Department of Fisheries to prepare a document and send it to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for a policy to support aquaculture farmers in applying new technology; subsidize prices and fees for mountainous areas.
