Production of various fish larvae reached 735 million, reaching 147% of the plan and 104% compared to the same period in 2017. Crab larvae production exceeded 29 million. Production and rearing of clam larvae reached 2.5 billion clam juveniles.

Support policies are needed.
At the conference, representatives from localities and aquaculture farmers raised many concerns and opinions regarding market demand, especially for traditional freshwater fish; and water pollution in shrimp farming areas.
The variety and diversity of specialty fish species are still limited. Fishing using electric shocks and explosives remains prevalent, negatively impacting aquatic resources, especially in large reservoirs and dams.
Therefore, local authorities and aquaculture farmers hope that the province will encourage businesses to invest in the production of specialty fish breeds; they also request that the province provide subsidies and freight assistance to people in mountainous areas who are strongly developing the advantage of cage fish farming on hydroelectric reservoirs.
Mr. Tran Huu Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, stated: Although the aquatic product output has reached a certain level, there has been no breakthrough in the types of fish raised, mainly traditional species, and there are not many specialty products. For brackish water shrimp farming, farmers have not widely adopted new technologies. He suggested that relevant sectors and seed production units in the province should be more proactive in researching and producing more specialty fish species to supply farmers and help them achieve greater success.Mr. Tran Huu Tien suggested that the Fisheries Sub-Department prepare a document to send to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for submission to the Provincial People's Committee to develop policies to support aquaculture farmers in applying new technologies; and to provide price and transportation subsidies for mountainous areas.
