Vinh City: Santa Claus service "fever" during Christmas season

Every Christmas, in addition to gifts and eye-catching decorations, Santa Claus services are also sought after by many people. In Vinh City these days, many young people, mainly students, have gathered in small groups to play the role of Santa Claus and give gifts to children throughout the city.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, a Santa Claus player in Vinh City, said: We formed a group to give out gifts on Christmas Eve, then advertised on Facebook so that anyone in need would come and register. This job not only helps to earn extra income but also brings joy to the children, so everyone is excited.
According to Mr. Hung, the operation of this service is extremely simple. Parents will secretly prepare gifts for Santa Claus, then Santa Claus will deliver the gifts to the children's homes at pre-arranged times.

Ms. Nguyen Anh Ngoc, a resident of Ben Thuy Ward, shared: “Work is getting busier and busier, so sometimes I don’t have time to spend with my children, so this service makes me very satisfied because it can bring joy to the children. The children are very excited to wait and listen to Santa Claus’s instructions.”
Although it only lasts for nearly a week, it is considered a bumper crop for young people. In Vinh City, this service is currently very popular with the price of gifts for each child ranging from 40,000 - 60,000 VND/turn.

However, this number is not fixed, the price will depend on the day, time of gift and the distance Santa Claus travels. If the customer requests the gift on December 20, 21, 22, the price will be cheaper (from 30,000 - 40,000 VND/time); but if the gift is on December 23, 24, the price can double.Gift giving is mainly in the evenings and on average each evening the groups will give gifts to dozens of children.
However, not everyone can "play" the role of Santa Claus. To do this, the person playing the role must meet two criteria, the most important is to be tall and fat, the second criterion is to be talkative, funny, and have the ability to be humorous to create joy for children.
