The Japanese newspaper Yorimuri reported that the US could put another radar complex into operation as part of its missile defense system in 2025. A similar complex will be built in 2023 in Hawaii, the Japanese newspaper noted.
The construction will be carried out within the framework of expanding the radar field in the Asia-Pacific region, the newspaper reported, and North Korea is still considered one of the threats to the US.
It is known that the new radar in Japan will be deployed in addition to the two Aegis Ashore missile defense systems in Yamaguchi and Akita prefectures, and the idea of expanding the missile defense system in Japan has sparked criticism from local authorities aimed at the US.
