The Japanese newspaper Yorimuri reported that by 2025, the United States may put another radar complex into operation as part of its missile defense system. According to the Japanese newspaper, a similar complex will be built in Hawaii in 2023.
The newspaper reported that the construction will be carried out as part of an expansion of the radar field in the Asia-Pacific region, and North Korea remains one of the threats to the United States.
Reportedly, the new radar in Japan will be deployed to supplement the two Aegis Ashore missile defense systems in Yamaguchi and Akita prefectures, while the very idea of expanding the missile defense system in Japan has sparked criticism from local authorities directed at the United States.
