According to Reuters, China on March 2 welcomed the announcement by the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) to postpone the deadline for the planned tariff increase on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.
In a statement on the Ministry of Commerce website, citing an unidentified official from China's State Council (Government), Beijing said it was aware of the USTR's announcement to maintain the 10% tariff until further notice and welcomed the move.
On February 28, USTR announced a delay in the planned tariff increase from 10% to 25% on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, before releasing an announcement on March 5.
Previously, US President Donald Trump announced this delay on February 24, citing progress in trade negotiations between the two countries./.
