On March 2, China welcomed the announcement by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to postpone the deadline for planned tariff increases on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.

According to Reuters, China on March 2 welcomed the announcement by the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to postpone the deadline for planned tariff increases on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.

In a statement on the Ministry of Commerce's website, quoting an unnamed official from the Chinese State Council, Beijing said it was aware of the USTR's announcement that it would maintain the 10% tariff until further notice, and welcomed the move.

On February 28, the USTR announced a postponement of its plan to increase tariffs from 10% to 25% on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, before making an announcement on March 5.

Earlier, on February 24, US President Donald Trump announced this delay, citing progress in trade negotiations between the two countries.
