Cong Phuong and overage players can attend SEA Games 2019
Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan - Vice President of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) - confirmed that teams participating in men's football at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines will be allowed to add 2 players over the age of 22 (U22+2 team).
Mr. Tuan said: "The Vietnam Football Federation has just received the competition regulations for men's football from the Organizing Committee of the 30th SEA Games and is aware of this information. Previously, at the meeting of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF), the AFF proposed to the Organizing Committee of the 30th SEA Games to let men's football compete with the U22 team.

However, the SEA Games Organizing Committee adjusted it to U22+2, meaning that there are 2 more players over the age of 22, which is also interesting for the tournament. If every team has 2 more older players, the quality will be improved, there is no problem."
With this adjustment, Vietnamese players who are over the age of competing in the 2019 SEA Games such as Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Hung Dung, Duy Manh... will have the opportunity to compete in the largest regional sports event.
This will certainly be a much-needed addition to the Vietnam U22 team in their goal of winning the SEA Games Gold Medal. The 2019 SEA Games will take place at the end of November in the Philippines.
