How to adjust your car's clutch pedal at home.
(Baonghean.vn) - The car clutch pedal is the component that connects the engine and the wheels. After a period of use, the car clutch pedal may become heavier or lighter than usual, requiring adjustment to rebalance the clutch pedal travel... For simple clutch pedal issues, you can adjust it yourself without having to take your car to a repair center.
1. Adjust the total travel and free travel of the clutch pedal.

The free travel of the clutch pedal is the distance from the pedal to the bearing position where all free clearance is eliminated (at the beginning of contact with the release lever). The driver will feel resistance when pressing the clutch pedal. Then, the next travel to the floor of the car is called the working travel (to completely disengage the clutch). The sum of these two travels is the total travel.
First, measure the pedal height using a ruler placed perpendicular to the car floor. If the height is correct according to the manufacturer's specifications, then it's fine. If not, adjust it by changing the length of the pedal anchor bolt. Then, have someone else press the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor to measure the total pedal travel distance.
If the total travel of the car's clutch pedal is lower or higher than normal, the free travel of the clutch pedal must be rebalanced...
2. Adjust the height of the levers.
The inspection will use calipers to measure the distance between the opening levers and the working surface of the pressure plate, and this distance must be within the manufacturer's specified range. If the distance between the opening levers is not equal, it must be adjusted; the difference must not exceed 0.3mm.
The lever is mounted on a bolt, and the bolt height can be adjusted to change the lever height. Alternatively, if the lever head has adjustable bolts, simply loosen the nut to adjust the bolt in or out, depending on the desired adjustment direction.
If the length of the pull rod is not as specified by the vehicle manufacturer, it needs to be adjusted using the adjustment screw. For hydraulic systems, adjustment is required by loosening the locking nut and turning the adjustment screw to change the length of the push rod connecting the clutch pedal to the master cylinder piston. For hydraulic brake systems, the pedal travel from the moment the clutch is pressed until the push rod begins to act on the master cylinder piston needs to be checked. The allowable travel is 1-5 mm.

After adjusting the car's clutch pedal, it's necessary to bleed the air from the hydraulic system to ensure that it doesn't affect the clutch's functionality.
First, attach the plastic tube to the bleed valve, and connect the other end to the brake fluid reservoir. Then, press and hold the clutch pedal while loosening the bleed screw until you see brake fluid flowing out, then tighten the bleed screw back in.
