Appointment of new Consul General of Vietnam to the US and China

Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh has just handed over decisions appointing officials on overseas missions and the Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Information Center.

Accordingly, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh presented the decision: Appointing Mr. Nguyen Trac Toan, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, former Minister - Second Person, Embassy of Vietnam in Cambodia, to hold the position of Consul General of Vietnam in San Francisco, USA, replacing Mr. Ho Xuan Son, Consul General, whose term has expired;

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Pham Binh Minh assigned tasks to officials.

Appoint Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of the Northeast Asia Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to hold the position of Consul General of Vietnam in Kunming, China, replacing Mr. To Quoc Tuan, Consul General, whose term has expired;

Appoint Mr. Doan Thanh Song, Acting Director of the Information Center, to hold the position of Director of the Information Center, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Pham Binh Minh congratulated the newly appointed officials as Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad and Director of the Information Center. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister emphasized that this was a trust in the capacity and experience of the Ministry's leaders for the appointed officials.

Instructing and assigning specific tasks to each officer, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Pham Binh Minh believes that with their experience, the new Consuls General will promote their capacity and strengths, lead the unit to successfully complete the assigned tasks, continue to build the area they are responsible for to develop more and more, contributing to the overall success of the country's foreign affairs.

Regarding Mr. Doan Thanh Song, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Pham Binh Minh believes that the new Director of the Information Center will lead the unit, together with relevant units of the Ministry, to promote the application of e-Government at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to increase work efficiency, modernize, ensure confidentiality, safety and information security in new conditions.

On behalf of the appointed officials, Mr. Nguyen Trac Toan thanked the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister and the Ministry's leadership for their trust in the officials assigned to the new tasks; at the same time, he affirmed that he will always try his best, promote his capacity, and continuously learn to complete the assigned tasks well, contributing to the overall success of the country's foreign affairs./.
