(Baonghean.vn) - Since the beginning of 2018, police forces at all levels have discovered and arrested 1,881 cases, 2,294 subjects buying, selling, storing, transporting, and organizing illegal use of drugs, and seized more than 930 kg of drugs of all kinds.
On the morning of June 19, at Thong Thu commune, Que Phong district, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (C04 - Ministry of Public Security) coordinated with Nghe An Police to organize a conference to propagate and train drug prevention for the people of Thong Thu border commune.

At the conference, Colonel Nguyen Dich Nam - Deputy Director of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department informed the people about the situation and results of drug prevention work in 2018 and the first 6 months of 2019 and emphasized that the Vietnam-Laos border continues to be assessed as a key and complicated route for illegal drug trafficking and transportation.
In the first 6 months of 2019, the police force has focused on fighting all types of crimes, discovering and dismantling many complex locations and gathering places, arresting 11,497 cases, 18,095 subjects, and seizing more than 395 kg of heroin. The drug crime investigation police force alone has seized more than 4 tons of various drugs, equal to 62% of the amount of drugs seized in the whole year of 2018.

In Nghe An province alone, in 2018 and the first 6 months of this year, police forces at all levels discovered and arrested 1,881 cases, 2,294 subjects buying, selling, storing, transporting, and organizing illegal use of drugs, seizing more than 930 kg of drugs of all kinds.
In particular, in the border district of Que Phong, the police force discovered and arrested 129 subjects, seized nearly 1 kg of heroin, more than 5,000 synthetic drug pills, nearly 4.1 kg of crystal meth, and filed records to send 139 subjects to compulsory drug rehabilitation facilities.

At the conference, representatives of Department C04, Nghe An Provincial Police focused on propagating and disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies on drug prevention and control; propagating knowledge about the harmful effects of drugs and drug abuse; methods and tricks of drug criminals to mobilize the masses to raise their vigilance, actively participate in preventing, detecting, fighting and denouncing drug crimes, and not participating in drug abuse.
