(Baonghean.vn) - Requiring dam operators to promptly notify people when releasing floodwaters and maintain a 24/7 duty regime, that is the spirit of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong at the inspection of weak irrigation works on the morning of August 29.
With the forecast that storm No. 4 will make landfall in the provinces from Nghe An to Quang Binh at noon tomorrow (August 30), this morning, a working group of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control inspected key dams.

Inspecting Dien Thanh sluice gate, Dien Chau district, based on the operation situation and regulations of the sluice gates, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Project Command Board to closely coordinate with the Northern Irrigation Company to operate effectively when floods occur.

At the Vuc Mau Lake project in Hoang Mai town, the inspection team actually fixed the leaks and measures to operate the opening of the lake's spillway. Arriving at the Khe San Lake irrigation project in Quynh Thang commune (Quynh Luu) and the Bara Do Luong upgrade project in Do Luong district, the delegation inspected the field. Here, a representative of the Khe San Dam Construction Site Command said that the upgrade project started in September 2018, with a capacity of 1.2 million m3 Water, construction within 2 years but now 80% completed.

Meanwhile, the Do Luong wharf project has completed 50% of the volume and the elevation markers ensure flood discharge requirements, without causing congestion or affecting the construction work as well as water drainage.
Currently, to cope with the risk of storm No. 4, the Construction Command Boards have taken a number of measures to ensure safety for construction items and organized the relocation of machinery to ensure safety.
Based on the preliminary situation of flood and storm prevention plans, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong acknowledged the proactive response to storms of units and command boards of key dams and reservoirs in the area.
