Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong inspects key drainage reservoirs and dams ahead of typhoon No. 4.
(Baonghean.vn) - Requiring dam and reservoir operating units to promptly notify residents when releasing floodwaters and maintain a 24/7 duty roster, this was the spirit of Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong during an inspection of critical irrigation works on the morning of August 29th.
Ahead of the forecast that typhoon number 4 will make landfall in the provinces from Nghe An to Quang Binh tomorrow noon (August 30), this morning, the working group of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue inspected key reservoirs and dams.

During an inspection at the Dien Thanh sluice gate in Dien Chau district, based on an understanding of the operational situation and regulations of the sluice gates, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the project's command board to coordinate closely with the Northern Irrigation Company to ensure effective operation in the event of heavy rain and flooding.

At the Vuc Mau Reservoir project in Hoang Mai town, the inspection team reviewed the repair of leaks and the operational measures for opening the reservoir's spillway gates. Accordingly, although the water level is not yet high, to ensure safety for the downstream area, Bac Irrigation Company Limited has not implemented water storage and is proceeding with normal spillway gate operation.

The delegation visited the Khe San Reservoir irrigation project in Quynh Thang commune (Quynh Luu district) and the Do Luong Weir upgrade project in Do Luong district to conduct on-site inspections. Here, representatives from the Khe San Dam construction site management board stated that the upgrade project, which began in September 2018, has a capacity of 1.2 million cubic meters.3 The project, which is scheduled for completion within two years, is now 80% complete.

Meanwhile, the Do Luong weir project has completed 50% of its construction volume, and the elevation markers ensure flood discharge requirements are met, preventing obstruction or disruption to ongoing construction or drainage.
Currently, in response to the threat of typhoon number 4, the project management boards have implemented several measures to ensure the safety of ongoing construction items, including relocating machinery to ensure safety.
Based on the preliminary assessment of flood and storm prevention plans, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dinh Viet Hong acknowledged the proactive response to the storm by the units and the command boards of key drainage dams and reservoirs in the area.
