Nghe An farmers freeze specialty 'flying shrimp' for export to the North
(Baonghean.vn) - Groups of people carrying their tools go to the harvested rice fields to hunt for "flying shrimp" (also known as locusts). Almost all of the catch is refrigerated and exported to the North.
Present at the rice field of Quynh Yen commune (Quynh Luu), we came across a group of people using ropes to herd "flying shrimp" into a trap. A net several dozen meters long was set up at the end of the field to catch the prey flying in. To hunt this way, there must be 3-4 people going together; when herding "flying shrimp" into the trap, 2 people stand on both sides of the field pulling the rope, 1 person walks in the middle of the field to chase the prey to the trap.
