Thus, Cua Lo town is the last of 21 districts, towns and cities of Nghe An to have African swine fever. Also on October 4, 1,964 pigs were culled in the whole province.
Statistics from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine show that as of October 4, in Nghe An, African swine fever has been present in 236 communes and wards in 21 districts, towns and cities for less than 30 days.
Total number of pigs destroyed: 54,889, weighing 2,454,025 kg.
Currently, the pathogen has spread widely, the number of pigs culled is large, localities have not done a good job of disinfecting and destroying pathogens at outbreaks, and the control of transporting pigs and pork products is lax and not strict. In addition, small-scale farms cannot apply biosecurity measures. Therefore, the risk of African swine fever outbreaks in the near future is very high.
