Thus, Cua Lo town is the last locality of 21 districts, towns and cities of Nghe An to have African swine fever. Also on October 4, the whole province destroyed 1,964 pigs.
Statistics from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine show that as of October 4, in Nghe An, African swine fever is present in 236 communes and wards, in 21 districts, towns and cities for less than 30 days.
Total number of pigs culled was 54,889, weighing 2,454,025 kg.
Currently, the pathogen has spread widely, the number of pigs culled is large, localities have not done a good job of disinfecting and destroying pathogens at outbreaks, and the control of the transportation of pigs and pork products is lax and not strict. In addition, small-scale livestock households cannot apply biosecurity measures. Therefore, the risk of African swine fever outbreaks in the near future is very high.
