A Boeing 737 operated by Ukraine International Airlines crashed on the outskirts of the Iranian capital Tehran during takeoff hours after Iran launched a missile attack on US forces in Iraq.

Iran has denied that a missile shot down the plane several days ago. However, the US and Canada later said, citing intelligence sources, that they believed Iran had shot down the plane.

The plane was carrying 167 passengers and nine crew members and was scheduled to fly to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. However, it crashed just minutes after takeoff. Among the victims were at least 63 Canadians, 11 Ukrainians and 82 Iranians.
