The disease spreads very quickly, killing many poultry species such as chickens, ducks, geese, quails... In particular, H5N6 avian influenza can be transmitted to humans and cause death.

The Ministry of Health requires that in cases of acute respiratory infections or severe pneumonia where the patient has a history of contact with sick poultry that died in an area with influenza A/H5N6, the treating medical facility must take note to take samples and send them to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.
