(Baonghean.vn) - In the face of the A/H5N6 flu outbreak in Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu), Nghe An Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department said that it will control the epidemic on a small scale.

(Baonghean.vn) - An outbreak of A/H5N6 flu occurred in poultry flocks of 2 families in Quynh Hong commune (Quynh Luu) on the morning of February 7. According to recommendations from veterinary agencies, A/H5N6 flu can spread to humans.

Regarding the H5N6 outbreak in poultry flocks in Quynh Hong commune, on the afternoon of February 7, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district submitted a report to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to provide 20,000 doses of vaccine and 60 liters of chemicals to synchronously deploy epidemic prevention and control work.

Mr. Dau Duc Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said: With that amount of vaccine, the district will focus on vaccinating all poultry and waterfowl in Quynh Hong commune; at the same time, spraying disinfectants inside and outside the epidemic area. At the same time, the district will focus on propaganda on mass media systems to let people in the district know and prevent H5N6 epidemic.

According to Quynh Hong commune, there are currently 15 households raising poultry in the form of farms and small-scale farming. The total poultry and waterfowl herd currently has 8,910 heads, including 4,420 ducks, 3,130 geese and 1,360 chickens.

According to the Ministry of Health, H5N6 avian influenza is a dangerous infectious disease caused by influenza virus group A/H5N6. The disease spreads very quickly, killing many poultry species such as chickens, ducks, geese, quails... In particular, H5N6 avian influenza can be transmitted to humans and cause death.

The Ministry of Health requires that in cases of acute respiratory infections or severe pneumonia where the patient has a history of contact with sick poultry that died in an area with influenza A/H5N6, the treating medical facility must take note to collect samples and send them to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.


Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine said: In the face of the A/H5N6 flu epidemic, localities focus on propaganda on the commune loudspeaker system and media so that people can proactively prevent the epidemic. When there is a phenomenon of poultry and waterfowl getting sick, people need to inform the local authorities to take samples for testing and handle it promptly, not letting the epidemic spread widely.
