Vietnam announces 21st case of nCoV infection
A 61-year-old man in Hanoi who sat near Nguyen Hong Nhung on flight VN54 from the UK back to Vietnam tested positive for nCoV.
The Ministry of Health confirmed on the morning of March 8 that he was the 21st case of nCoV infection in Vietnam and the 4th case in Hanoi. Ms. Nhung is the 17th patient.
Patient 21 sat near Ms. Nhung on the flight back to Vietnam on March 2. On March 6, he was quarantined at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, branch 2. The Hanoi Center for Disease Control took samples to test for nCoV.
Ms. Nhung, 26 years old, traveled to Europe to England, Italy, France, then returned home. On March 5, she fell ill, went to Hong Ngoc General Hospital for examination, then transferred to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases, tested positive for nCoV.
The patient's aunt and personal driver, who were infected, were patients 19 and 20. The driver picked Nhung up from the airport to her home and took her to the hospital, while the aunt was the one who took care of Nhung at home.
The 18th patient returned from Daegu city, South Korea and was immediately quarantined in Ninh Binh.
Currently, the Covid-19 Prevention and Control Steering Committee is urgently implementing measures to control and isolate people in close contact with the patient to prevent the spread. Hanoi has upgraded isolation measures to a higher level.
