Mr. Biden officially represents the Democratic Party to run for US President

Former US Vice President Joe Biden gave an official speech on the evening of August 20 (US time) accepting the Democratic Party's nomination to run for president.

With a speech from his home state of Delaware, former US Vice President Joe Biden officially became the Democratic Party's candidate for US President.

In his speech, Mr. Joe Biden criticized the leadership of President Donald Trump's administration in dealing with the Covid-19 epidemic, which has made the US the world leader in the number of infections and deaths, the US economy has declined, millions of people have had to register for unemployment benefits and lost insurance while many businesses have had to close. Mr. Biden also criticized President Trump for not protecting the US and its people.

Mr. Biden also called on the people to unite to overcome the dark moment of America: “Too much anger, too much fear, too much division. Here and now, I promise that if you trust me as president, I will draw on the best of us, not the worst. I will be an ally of light, not darkness. It is time for our people to unite to overcome this dark moment in America. I am proud to be a member of the Democratic Party and I am proud to represent the Democratic Party in the general election. With pride and humility, I accept the candidacy for President of the United States.”

Mr. Biden said that his first steps as president are to prioritize controlling the Covid-19 epidemic. Mr. Biden also mentioned his plan, roughly translated as “Build Back Better,” to rebuild the economy and bring a better life to the American people.

August 20 is the fourth and final day of the Democratic National Convention. A day earlier, Senator Kamala Harris, Biden's running mate, also accepted the Democratic nomination to run for US Vice President. The Democratic Convention is the first time an important event in the presidential election process has been held online in the context of Covid-19, with the US being the largest pandemic center in the world.

The Republican National Convention will take place from August 24 to August 27, with Donald Trump expected to be the Republican Party's nominee in the race for the White House alongside Joe Biden. Donald Trump's running mate is current Vice President Mike Pence./.
