"The lessons from Ukraine are very important. No one wants to repeat what happened in Ukraine. The EU is very concerned about prolonged chaos in Belarus" - quoted from the European Council's concluding report.

Earlier, the EU held an extraordinary conference on the situation in Belarus. In a conclusion announced after the conference, President of the European Council (EC) Charles Michel said that the EC does not recognize the results of the Belarusian presidential election on August 9.

On the Belarusian side, President Alexander Lukasheko accused the US and the EU of planning and being behind the unrest in the country.

Mr Lukashenko added that Western countries are trying to use Belarus as a tool against Russia.

"They (the West) have prepared this chaos for us. Of course, the West wants to draw us to their side, to counter Russia. Now they want to establish the Baltic - Black Sea corridor including the three Baltic states, Belarus and Ukraine. We are an important link in it" - President Lukashenko said.
