"The lessons from Ukraine are crucial. No one wants a repeat of what happened in Ukraine. The EU is very concerned about the prolonged chaos in Belarus," - quoted from the concluding report of the European Council.

Earlier, the EU held an extraordinary meeting on the situation in Belarus. In a conclusion published after the meeting, President of the European Council Charles Michel stated that the EC does not recognize the results of the Belarusian presidential election held on August 9.

On the Belarusian side, President Alexander Lukashenko accused the US and the EU of planning and being behind the unrest in the country.

Lukashenko added that Western countries are trying to use Belarus as a tool to counter Russia.

"They (the West) prepared this mess for us. Of course, the West wants to draw us to their side, to counter Russia. Now they want to establish a Baltic-Black Sea corridor encompassing the three Baltic states, Belarus, and Ukraine. We are a crucial link in that," President Lukashenko said.
