The Tran Hung Dao Temple in Vinh City has been recognized as a provincial-level historical site.
(Baonghean.vn) - This is a source of pride for the people of Vinh City in general, and Doi Cung ward in particular, demonstrating their reverence and gratitude for the immense contributions of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan to the struggle to protect the country.
On the morning of October 6th, at the People's Committee of Doi Cung Ward, the People's Committee of Vinh City held a ceremony to receive the provincial-level historical relic ranking certificate for the Tran Hung Dao Temple and to offer incense in commemoration of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan on the 720th anniversary of his death.
Attending the event were Comrade Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Vinh City Party Committee, along with representatives from the Department of Culture and Sports; and leaders of wards and communes in the area.

Hung Dao Dai Vuong, whose given name was Quoc Tuan, was the third son of An Sinh Vuong Tran Lieu and the nephew of King Tran Thai Tong. He made many contributions to the country, playing a key role in the "Dong A spirit" of the Tran dynasty, and was instrumental in the second and third resistance wars against the Mongol invaders.
He was also a loyal and benevolent general, skilled in utilizing talented individuals and dedicated to fostering national unity. On September 5th, the 8th year of Hung Long (1300), corresponding to August 20th of the year Canh Ty, Hung Dao Dai Vuong passed away at his residence in Van Kiep. He was revered by the people as a saint, known as Duc Thanh Tran, becoming one of the most popular folk beliefs. Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan is worshipped at temples throughout the country.

In Nghe An province, the Tran Hung Dao temple was built in 1914. Originally, the temple consisted of four buildings, facing south. Through the vicissitudes of history and the ravages of war, the temple suffered serious damage, and some statues and ritual objects were moved to Hong Son Temple for worship. In 2014, in accordance with the policy of restoring the Tran Hung Dao temple, the Vinh City People's Committee began the initial steps to rebuild the temple on its original site, and simultaneously transferred the statues and ritual objects of Tran Hung Dao from Hong Son Temple to be displayed and worshipped at the Tran Hung Dao temple.

By 2017, the Tran Hung Dao Temple was completely restored with the main structures, including the main hall, the rear hall, and the triple gate, built in the traditional architectural style of Nghe An province. The temple was built to worship Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan, the Second Princess (also known as Anh Nguyen Quan Chua), and his generals such as Pham Ngu Lao, Tran Binh Trong, Hoang Ta Thon, Yet Kieu, and Da Tuong... In addition, the temple also houses the worship of deities from the Four Palaces system of the Mother Goddess religion. Every year, the Tran Hung Dao Temple hosts many cultural and spiritual activities such as the Spring Festival (February 10th of the lunar calendar); the commemoration ceremony for the death anniversary of Saint Tran (August 20th of the lunar calendar); the practice of Mother Goddess worship; and more.

Recognizing the immense cultural and historical value of the Tran Hung Dao Temple, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Decision No. 533/QD-UBND classifying the Tran Hung Dao Temple in Doi Cung ward, Vinh city, as a provincial-level historical relic.

Immediately after the certificate awarding ceremony, representatives from the Department of Culture and Sports, leaders of the Vinh City People's Committee, and a large number of people proceeded to carry the historical relic ranking certificate from the Doi Cung Ward People's Committee to the Tran Hung Dao Temple; and participated in offering incense to commemorate Tran Quoc Tuan according to traditional rituals.
