Voters in Ky Son complain about difficulties due to a lack of land for production.
(Baonghean.vn) - During the meeting, voters in Chieu Luu commune presented many difficulties in the area, such as a shortage of agricultural land, access to clean water, and unemployment.
On the afternoon of November 24th, National Assembly deputies Nguyen Huu Cau - former Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police; and Le Quang Huy - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, held a meeting with voters in Chieu Luu commune, Ky Son district.

Chieu Luu is a commune located along Highway 7, with its population mainly consisting of Thai and Khmu people living interspersed with each other. According to the commune's report, nearly 60% of its households are still classified as poor or near-poor. It is one of the hotspots for drug trafficking, as well as human trafficking, especially...the trafficking of fetusesIt has emerged recently.
During the meeting, voters in Chieu Luu commune presented many difficulties in the area, such as a shortage of arable land, lack of clean water, and unemployment. The level of education remains low, and the traditional cultural identity and values of ethnic groups are at risk of disappearing. Some outdated customs and practices, along with ethnic inferiority complex, have significantly impacted and influenced people's lives.

Meanwhile, the leaders of Chieu Luu commune frankly admitted that the quality of the political system and state management at the grassroots level still has some limitations. Furthermore, drug abuse remains a persistent problem, and many factors significantly affect production, people's lives, and the development of the commune.
Voters in Chieu Luu commune requested that all levels of government pay attention to creating jobs for children of ethnic minorities in particularly difficult areas in general, and Chieu Luu commune in particular, who have completed university or college education. Priority should be given to creating opportunities for these children to work abroad in countries such as South Korea and Japan.
Voters also requested the construction of a permanent bridge and the upgrading of the road leading to Bao Thang commune. They also requested the construction of a pedestrian bridge at Khe Nhan leading to the Pieng Set residential planning area. The commune also requested funding to rebuild the commune's staff housing, which is currently dilapidated and no longer suitable for long-term use.
Voters in Chieu Luu commune also requested that higher authorities urge the Ca Nan 1 and Ca Nan 2 hydropower companies to hand over the land at the Canan hydropower plant intersection to the commune for the construction of a market. They also requested that the competent authorities issue a directive regarding the planning and construction of a small industrial cluster in the Ban Cu area, so that residents know whether this project will continue or not. If not, the land should be returned to the people. According to voters, this small industrial cluster has been included in the planning for 10 years but has not yet become operational. In addition, some voters also oppose the construction of the Canan 3 hydropower plant due to concerns about the long-term consequences of hydropower projects.
During the meeting, National Assembly deputies, representatives from departments, agencies, and localities shared information and answered many questions from voters.
According to a representative from the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Ky Son district, the projects mentioned by voters, such as the construction of a permanent bridge on the road to Bao Thang commune or the construction of the commune headquarters, have been included in the public investment plan for the coming period. Regarding the Chieu Luu industrial cluster, which has been deserted for the past 10 years, the reason is that industry and small-scale handicrafts in the area have not yet developed. The raw material supply also does not meet the needs of the factories, so investors are not enthusiastic...
Regarding the drug and human trafficking issues raised by voters, the leader of the Ky Son District Police said that the unit has been aggressively combating these types of crimes. In Chieu Luu commune, from the beginning of the year until now, the Ky Son Police have uncovered 45 cases involving 52 individuals related to drugs, accounting for one-third of the total cases in the entire district. Many major cases have been solved, mostly in Chieu Luu commune. In some cases, dozens of drug packages were seized. The local authorities have also established records and are managing drug rehabilitation for 71 people in the commune.
The leaders of the Ky Son District Police also shared the difficulties in combating human trafficking, especially the trafficking of fetuses. Because many pregnant women secretly flee to China to give birth and then sell their babies, it is very difficult for the local authorities to control the situation. Since the beginning of the year, the commune has had two women who went to China to give birth and then sold their children.
