The Electoral College, on December 14th (US time),Voting has begun for the presidential and vice-presidential elections.
Each state's electors meet at a designated location, usually the state's government building. Each elector casts two ballots: one for president and one for vice president. Some states begin this process at 10:00 AM on December 14th (Eastern Time), and it continues until 7:00 PM that same day, when the electors in the final state, Hawaii, cast their votes. The electoral process is streamed live on the states' websites.
After December 14th, the results of the electoral college vote will be sent to both houses of Congress. On January 6th, 2021, both houses will hold a joint meeting, chaired by Vice President Mike Pence, the President of the Senate, to review the results of the electoral college vote.
Biden is expected to deliver a speech after the Electoral College concludes its voting process. Biden's aides hope the Electoral College results will force Republicans to accept defeat to President Donald Trump and shift their focus to the fight against Covid-19.
