Electoral College votes show Biden wins US presidency
Mr. Biden is expected to give a speech after the electoral colleges of the states finish the process of officially voting to elect him as the 46th President of the United States.
Joe Biden has officially surpassed the 270 electoral votes needed to win the US presidency after the vote of the electors in California. 55 electors in California voted for Biden at a meeting in Sacramento.

The Electoral College on December 14 (US time) hasvoting begins for president and vice president.
Each state’s electors meet at a designated location, usually the state capitol building. Each elector casts two ballots, one for president and one for vice president. Some states begin the process at 10 a.m. ET on December 14, and it will continue until 7 p.m. that day, when electors in the final state, Hawaii, cast their votes. The electoral votes will be streamed live on the states’ websites.
After December 14, the results of the Electoral College votes will be sent to both houses of Congress. On January 6, 2021, the two houses will hold a joint meeting, chaired by Vice President Mike Pence - President of the Senate - to consider the results of the Electoral College votes.
Biden is expected to deliver a speech after the electoral college finishes voting. Biden’s aides hope the results will force Republicans to accept President Donald Trump’s defeat and shift their focus to the fight against Covid-19./.
