(Baonghean.vn) - With just over a month left until the Lunar New Year of the Ox 2021, authorities and businesses have been preparing goods for the market for months. Despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, goods remain abundant, meeting the consumer needs of the people.
The business is ready to serve.
By this time, shopping malls, supermarket chains, convenience stores, etc., in the province have completed their plans and goods are being gathered at their business locations;sources of goods for TetIt's 2-3 times higher than in a normal month.
The director of a supermarket in Vinh City said: "According to our plan, our business expects sales to increase by about 30% compared to last year. To achieve this target, we will prepare, stockpile, and supply goods for the two months before and after Tet (Lunar New Year) with a quantity increase of over 50%, totaling approximately 50 billion VND. The reason is that we always import more goods to prepare for the upcoming period. Currently, goods have begun to be gathered and placed on shelves to serve consumers. We anticipate that more people will return to their hometowns for Tet than in previous years (due to the pandemic, they couldn't return during the year)."

This year, due to the difficult economic situation, many supermarkets plan to reduce the proportion of high-end goods and instead increase the supply of quality, more affordable products to serve the needs of the general consumer. Supermarkets in the area such as BigC, Maximax, Metro… are committed to maintaining stable prices, not adjusting prices upwards during Tet (Lunar New Year), and simultaneously implementing many promotional programs with discounts on many items to stimulate consumer demand. The total value of goods for Tet in the province is estimated to reach over 10,000 billion VND. Among them, some large supermarkets such as BigC have stockpiled goods worth approximately 50 billion VND, Metro 25 billion VND, Vinmart 50 billion VND…

Ms. Vo Thi Thao, owner of a wholesale business in Vinh City, said: "This year we stockpiled 300,000 liters of cooking oil, worth over 12 billion VND. Besides cooking oil, we also prepared white sugar, milk, etc., with total sales reaching 50 billion VND, a 15% increase compared to a normal month. Furthermore, we proactively sourced agricultural products, food, and traditional specialties from other provinces, diversifying our product range (prioritizing Vietnamese goods) to meet the needs of the Nghe An market during the end of 2020 and Tet (Lunar New Year), preventing shortages that could drive up prices."
Many units have also proactively linked and formed supply chains from production to distribution to ensure an abundant and diverse supply of goods at stable prices to meet the people's consumption needs during Tet. Government departments are proactively monitoring the Tet holiday market.
To effectively implement Directive No. 15/CT-BCT dated October 30, 2020, of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on implementing solutions to ensure supply-demand balance and stabilize the market at the end of 2020 and during the Lunar New Year of Tan Suu 2021, the Provincial People's Committee has planned to implement commodity stabilization measures. Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade is the permanent agency responsible for implementing measures to ensure supply-demand balance and stabilize the market for the Tet holiday; closely monitoring market developments and proactively developing plans to ensure the supply and demand of goods, especially during peak periods. |

Mr. Cao Minh Tu, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: "Currently, we are coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and other functional units and localities to closely monitor the production situation, the development of diseases, especially African swine fever, and assess the supply capacity of pork and other essential goods to the market in the area. We are directing businesses in the area to focus on boosting production and business, proactively researching the market, developing production plans, and stockpiling goods to maintain production and business operations."
The Ministry of Industry and Trade regularly encourages and facilitates businesses to implement domestic trade promotion activities, demand stimulation programs, expand goods distribution networks, and carry out programs bringing Vietnamese goods to rural and remote areas before, during, and after Tet (Lunar New Year); focusing on essential goods for Tet to ensure early and sufficient supply for people, especially in remote areas, guaranteeing quantity and quality; directing food distribution businesses such as supermarkets and shopping malls to coordinate with businesses and concentrated livestock farms to ensure the supply of pork and pork substitutes.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has been monitoring the production of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products; the livestock situation, and the output of livestock and poultry in the province, especially in the months before, during, and after Tet (Lunar New Year), in order to direct production and livestock farming, create a stable supply of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, ensure quality and food safety, and meet the consumption needs of the people. Businesses and livestock farms are encouraged to develop other types of livestock to compensate for the shortage of pork supply, while ensuring disease control, environmental hygiene, and a balance between supply and demand for alternative food sources to pork.

Strictly handling violations within its authority and publicly announcing them through mass media. Directing market management teams to actively coordinate with relevant functional forces in districts, cities, and towns in inspecting and controlling the market, especially before, during, and after Tet (Lunar New Year).
