Argentine President Tests Positive for Covid-19

Argentine authorities confirmed that the country's President, Alberto Fernandez, has tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

However, according to President Alberto Fernandez's personal physician, he contracted Covid-19 in a mild form due to the effects of the previously administered vaccine.

Mr. Alberto Fernandez's health is currently good although he is facing some symptoms such as headache and mild fever.

Earlier, in a statement posted on his Twitter account on April 2, President Alberto Fernandez also said that he had quarantined after initial tests showed that he was positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Earlier this year, he was vaccinated with the Russian-made Sputnik V vaccine.

Argentina is facing a second wave of Covid-19 infections with the number of new infections continuously increasing. On April 2 alone, there were nearly 10,000 new infections.
