'Building' a brand, increasing the value of Quynh Luu deer velvet

(Baonghean.vn) - Deer farming has been present in Quynh Luu district, Hoang Mai town for many years. Recently, Quynh Luu district was honored to be recognized with the brand name "Quynh Luu Deer Antler".

Need to build product brand

Nghe An is known as a locality.deer farmingfirst in the country, mainly concentrated in Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town. First in Tien Thuy commune - where it is said that deer have been raised since 1926, then gradually spread to other communes. In the 1990s, deer raising was especially developed in Quynh Luu district and Huong Son district (Ha Tinh). However, the deer fever in these years was mainly the fever of deer breeding, which pushed the price of deer breeding up very high. Later, when the fever of deer breeding subsided, deer returned to its true value of velvet antlers for medicinal purposes. For about ten years now, deer raising has developed steadily and quite sustainably.

According to statistics of Quynh Luu district, in 2015, the whole district had over 14,000 deer; the antler output was about 4 tons, equivalent to about 32 billion VND (raw). This is a huge source of income that not only contributes to the economic growth of the district but also to many households in Quynh Luu, deer antler products have become the main source of income in the year. For example, in Quynh Tan commune, the total income of the whole commune in 2015 reached 307 billion VND, of which the livestock industry reached over 65 billion VND (revenue from deer antlers, deer antlers 4.8 billion VND).

In Hoang Mai town (which was separated from Quynh Luu district in 2010), deer farming is also quite developed. Currently, the whole town has about 7,000 deer, mainly concentrated in Quynh Loc and Quynh Vinh communes. Although it has existed for a long time, the herd is large, and the income is high and quite stable, deer farming in Quynh Luu district still has many difficulties and shortcomings. Breeding sources have not been scientifically selected; the breeding process as well as the exploitation of deer antlers are mainly based on experience, lacking scientific research. Products are not diverse, mainly selling fresh antlers, lacking in processing and deep refining...

In particular, although it is a valuable product with a good reputation in the market, for decades nowQuynh Luu deer velvetand Hoang Mai town has not received attention in branding, quality management and market development, so it is still very limited.

Thereby, in order to better manage the quality of deer antler products, enhance the reputation and competitiveness of deer antler products in the market.

After 3 years of efforts, with the support and guidance of the Department of Science and Technology, and other departments and branches, Quynh Luu deer antlers have been granted a certificate of recognition by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology. The recognition of the trademark "Quynh Luu deer antlers" is very meaningful, aiming to enhance the value of deer antlers products of Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town, contributing to increasing income and improving the lives of people in the production and trading areas of deer antlers products of the above two localities.

Deer antler products include fresh antler vacuum-packed and fresh antler soaked in wine... The certified trademark "Quynh Luu Deer Antler" is registered for protection, used, managed and exploited effectively to create a healthy business environment, helping consumers use the right product, ensuring origin and specific quality.

In addition to being recognized with the Quynh Luu deer antler certification mark, on this occasion, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town to hold the Congress to establish the Quynh Luu Deer Antler Production and Trading Association, term 2021-2025. At the first congress, the organizing committee announced the decision of the Provincial People's Committee Chairman on the establishment of the association and allowed the congress to be held. The congress discussed and approved the Charter of the Deer Antler Production and Trading Association; comments on the development of regulations on the use of stamps, labels, and packaging of Quynh Luu deer antler products and elected the Executive Committee of the association for the 2021-2025 term. This is an organization with the role and responsibility of managing, guiding, and supervising the use of the "Quynh Luu Deer Antler" trademark as well as supporting and sharing each other in deer breeding and the production and processing of antler products.
